What the Christ Consciousness says about war and suffering

Deepak Chopra says Paul Selig’s channeled books in the “I Am the Word” trilogy are “authentic straightforward truth straight from the source field.”

I spoke with Selig about his work with the Guides, who identify as the Christ Consciousness, and the beginning of the second trilogy, “The Book of Mastery: The Mastery Trilogy Book 1” due January 2016 from Tarcher Perigee.

I asked Selig about a passage in the new book where the Guides respond to a hypothetical question about suffering.

“Are you saying that I made my child sick?” is the question they addressed.

Their response is “You did not make him sick, but you are party to your witnessing, your engagement with that particular issue.” It seems like the Guides answer to why bad things happen to good people is that we have collective shared constructs and agreements based in fear, which in turn creates our reality. In real world terms did the victims in Paris somehow individually create their reality or is there something in the collective consciousness of humanity that results in war and suffering?

I asked Selig if the Guides are saying that there is more to what we experience than an individual creating their own reality.

“My hunch is yes,” Selig says. “They [the Guides] wouldn’t say that we’ve ‘created everything.’ They would say that we’re in agreement with everything. There’s a difference there because agreement is energetic accord. I didn’t make the bus crash. I didn’t make the war happen but because I am able to perceive these things I have a relationship to them which is the energetic accord.

“They’re beginning to teach very much about collective structures of agreement so it’s rather self-centered to think that I created this or that terrible thing. Terrible is my descriptive word, not the Guides, because they don’t use that language. But the idea is that we’re all informing these things by how we hold a vision of it or how we perceive it or how we name it. I think this is accurate. What they’ve said is everything that you see you’re in agreement with because it couldn’t really be there without your agreement. They say that what you’re agreeing with, you’re in accord with and they’ll often spell it out ‘a chord’ and they’ll say it as in a chord in a piano

“There’s a resonance between you and what you see. Then they say if you don’t want to be in agreement with it stop shaking hands with it. What you shake hands with you hold. What you hold you’re in accord with and as long as we’re holding it at that level we can’t lift it up and if we can’t lift, we can’t bring it up. When you bring something up, you perceive the Divine in all things, you’re actually transforming the structure — that’s what they would say. The holding of the witness of the Divine in what you see actually — they say impacts the material realm. [If you don’t do] that it just stays a nice idea.”

“One of the things that they’ve said repeatedly is that we’ve lived on a plane with war for so long, we cannot conceive of a planet without war. Because we can’t conceive of that, we perpetuate war. We are party to its very structure. So until we can lift beyond that construct, it won’t change. You know we still think that peace is the absence of war. As long as peace is dependent on war not being there, we’re essentially in energetic accord to war. It’s like if I’m going on a diet because I don’t want to be fat, my diet is in response to being fat, and it’s not about getting healthy.

“I have a very challenging time with this myself, but I’m beginning to get it. One is an agreement to the old paradigm and the other is a higher vibration, a higher accord, and it’s from that place that we can do the work to change things or the work can be done through us, which is a better way of putting it.

“When I was a very young boy I was convinced that thoughts were things and it made my life fairly miserable because I thought if I thought something terrible it was going to happen. I mean this was me at 7-years-old. It made for a fairly unhappy childhood.

“But thank God nobody that I ever wished badly had something terrible happen; there’d be nobody left! We all have these thoughts, but I do think we hold an energetic accord and that if I’m holding anger at somebody, if I’m not feeling anger and letting anger move through me but holding a grudge, I’m actually holding an agreement to attach myself to that person.”

Two things stand out about the fascinating man who has channeled these popular books. First is his absolute care and dedication to keeping his transmissions from the spiritual guides free from his biases and perceptions. The second is his humility.

“To be honest with you, I’m often challenged by reading the text myself,” Selig tells me. “I’ve often said is that the biggest challenge being a channel is that I’m the channel. So the biggest challenge I have with the text is that they came through me. It’s kind of like asking the radio to have an opinion on the broadcast which isn’t always comfortable.

“I don’t actually read a lot of other channeled literature or spiritual texts even though I think I would benefit enormously from it. There’s a part of me that feels I want to ‘keep the channel clean’ as it were and to let the teachings that they’re bringing come through unformed by me.”

Selig is an academic, professor and playwright who began moonlighting as a psychic after a spontaneous spiritual awakening and eventually began channeling. Where all this led has surprised him.

“My experience of being a channel is that often I get into the back seat of a car and let them drive and sometimes I’m just looking out the window, enjoying the scenery and thinking about whatever’s next in my life. I’m ignoring the language that’s moving through me. I’m conscious for it, but I’m not focusing on it.

“Other times it’s like I’m like leaning over the front seat of the car trying to say ‘Don’t hit the tree over there’ – which is when I’m getting nervous about the quality of the transmission.”

  1. I’d really like to read more about Paul Selig’s take on the Law of Attraction. I can’t find, however, the full article/interview that is supposed to address this.
    Thank you,
    Jeff O.
